Today, safety has become our topmost concern when we think of resuming our travel adventures. However, with a constant change in COVID-19 cases, it is challenging to track which countries are safe to visit.
A dream summer vacation, everyone seems to be going crazy for this Indian Ocean island — Mauritius. Bringing hope to enthusiastic travellers, Mauritius has launched their first COVID-19 vaccination programme giving priority to their frontline workers, healthcare professionals and employees of the tourism industry. 50,000 Frontlines have been vaccinated of which 50% are from the tourism sector. The main aim of expediting the vaccination programme is to kick start tourism operations under the safest conditions and to boost the confidence of travellers who wish to visit the country.
Strict quarantine procedures are currently in place since the first outbreak and the tourism sector has been playing a vital role in providing accommodations for confinements. The social life of the ones living in Mauritius has bounced back to normalcy since June as there were no cases of community transmission recorded. As a result, the country has seen a surge in demand from travellers from across the world. Quarantine procedures and entry requirements will be eased off progressively, based on the global condition of the pandemic. The ultimate objective of the government of Mauritius is to vaccinate 60% of the population to achieve herd immunity. Moreover, the World Travel and Tourism Council has certified Mauritius with a ‘Safe Travels’ stamp.
